Job summary
Compeer Financial in Bloomington, IL seeks an Assistant General Counsel - Ag Lending to provide senior legal counsel for agricultural lending teams and to advise on complex contracts and risk management. You will draft and negotiate loan-related documents, analyze regulatory issues, and support executives with strategic legal guidance.
The role requires a JD and bar admission in IL, MN, or WI, plus experience in agricultural finance or a regulated financial institution.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree and JD from ABA-accredited law school.
- Licensed to practice law in Illinois, Minnesota or Wisconsin.
- Experience in agricultural finance or a regulated financial institution preferred.
- Excellent drafting, negotiation and advisory capabilities.
- Strong knowledge of lending, collateral, and applicable laws.
Responsibilities
- Provide senior legal counsel and strategic advice to executives and leaders.
- Draft, negotiate and review complex commercial contracts related to loans and leases.
- Offer primary legal support for agricultural lending teams on collateral, loan structure and servicing actions.
- Manage and standardize template lending documents and related contracts.
- Monitor industry trends and regulatory changes, offering practical risk mitigation guidance.
