The Department of Citywide Administrative Services (DCAS) seeks to hire an Agency Attorney Level 2 to work in the Office of the General Counsel, focusing on personnel and civil service law. Under supervision and with some independence, the candidate will prepare reports to the City Civil Service Commission (CCSC) regarding the legal basis for disqualification of candidates and will represent the agency at hearings before the CCSC.
The candidate will also collaborate with the Citywide Human Capital Line of Service in drafting and reviewing legal notices for civil service examinations, work with the NYC Law Department in defending litigation related to personnel and civil service law, and provide legal counsel on related issues.
Incumbents must remain members of the NY State Bar in good standing during employment.
To be assigned to Level II, candidates need one year of experience at Level I or two years of comparable legal experience after admission. For Level III, two years at Levels I/II or three years of similar legal experience are required.
