Job summary

QE Solar seeks an Assistant Foreman with a focus on safety to join our field team, with the opportunity to transition into a Tractor Operator role. The position involves operating heavy equipment and vegetation management while supporting a 4-5 person crew across East Coast projects and monthly travel.

Ideal candidates will have experience with tractors and vegetation maintenance equipment, a clean driving record, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a crew.

Qualifications

• Experience operating tractors, agricultural equipment, or other heavy machinery.
• Experience with brush hogs, orchard mowers, or vegetation maintenance equipment.
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
• Licensed to operate agricultural and/or earth-moving equipment (2A), or ability to obtain the certification.
• Willingness to travel 1–2 weeks per month.

Responsibilities

• Operate tractors and heavy equipment safely and efficiently.
• Perform vegetation management using brush hogs, orchard mowers, etc.
• Safely operate pickup trucks while towing trailers.
• Assist the Foreman with daily field operations and project coordination.
• Perform routine equipment inspections and report maintenance needs.

• Travel to project sites along the East Coast as required.

Job description

We are seeking a motivated and safety-focused Assistant Foreman to join our team with the

opportunity to transition into a Tractor Operator role. This position is ideal for someone with

experience operating heavy equipment, vegetation management machinery, and towing trailers

who enjoys working both independently and as part of a field crew. This role supports vegetation

management and right-of-way maintenance projects across the East Coast and requires travel

approximately 1-2 weeks per month.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate tractors and other heavy equipment safely and efficiently.
• Perform vegetation management using brush hogs, orchard mowers, and other specialized mowing equipment.
• Safely operate pickup trucks while towing bumper-pull and gooseneck trailers.
• Assist the Foreman with daily field operations and project coordination.
• Perform routine equipment inspections and report maintenance needs.
• Follow all company safety policies and procedures.
• Work independently and collaboratively with a 4-5 person field crew.
• Travel to project sites throughout the East Coast as required.

Qualifications

• Experience operating tractors, agricultural equipment, or other heavy machinery.
• Experience with brush hogs, orchard mowers, or similar vegetation maintenance equipment.
• Comfort towing bumper-pull and gooseneck trailers.
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
• Willingness to travel 1-2 weeks per month.

• Licensed to operate agricultural and/or earth-moving equipment (2A), or ability to obtain the certification.

Preferred

• Experience in vegetation management, forestry, agriculture, landscaping, construction, or utility right-of-way maintenance.
• Previous leadership or crew lead experience.

This position requires:

Working in indoor and outdoor environments, including solar sites, construction sites, and industrial facilities, in varying weather conditions (heat, cold, wind, rain, etc.)

Prolonged periods of standing, walking, bending, kneeling, crouching, and climbing on uneven terrain

Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials and equipment up to 50 pounds or more, with or without assistance

Use of hands and fingers to operate tools, testing equipment, and technical devices with precision

Ability to safely climb ladders, scaffolding, and work at heights

Ability to work in confined spaces and near energized equipment while maintaining strict adherence to safety protocols

Visual acuity to read blueprints, schematics, and technical documents, and to identify potential hazards

Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including hard hats, safety glasses, gloves, harnesses, arc-flash protection, and other job-specific gear

Effective verbal communication skills to coordinate with team members, supervisors, and other trades in active work environments
