Job Summary
Under the direction of the Shipping Supervisor, the Assistant Foreman plays an integral part of leading a designated group of material handlers, through assigning work, resolving shipping or equipment problems, and ensuring work is completed to the highest standards of safety and quality.
Essential Duties

- Maintain equipment and work areas and create a safe work environment by developing safe work practices and enforcing compliance with company/site safety policies.
- Investigate inventory shortages, equipment defects, and causes for shipping delays.
- Maintain morale and employee relations and adjust minor complaints.
- Immediately report to supervisor and Human Resources any potential or actual safety or compliance policy violations.
- Coordinate daily work of material handlers, assigning work, resolving problems/barriers, and reviewing quality of work.
- Actively participate in daily shipping operations to drive continuous improvement.
- Provide additional direct support to maintain safe and uninterrupted operations during team absences.
- Work closely with Planners, other Production and Shipping areas, and support groups to ensure that objectives are correctly prioritized and results are achieved.
- Plan and direct daily activities of the shipping/warehouse function to meet or exceed safety goals and service metrics. (i.e. on time, production, and fill rate)
- Provide training to shipping employees in safety, Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), and quality standards.
- Troubleshoot and resolve quality, process, and mechanical problems, making minor repairs and equipment adjustments as needed.
- Ensure that material handlers are given all necessary tools and information to effectively complete work tasks.
- Utilize Maximo to submit work orders for all requests to Maintenance.
- Perform consistent, systematic,and thorough transitions with exiting and incoming shifts by utilizing the referenced shift handover template and foreman checklists.
- Assist in conducting shift huddles that review policy updates, Safety, Quality, Service, Cost and Engagement priorities for the shift.
- Communicate via radio as required.
- Complete other tasks and duties as required or assigned.
- Respond to shipment status inquiries in a timely manner.
- Perform required relief duties for Shipping Supervisor position absences.
Qualifications Required
- H.S. Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required
- Previous Warehousing and leadership experience preferred, but not required.
- Knowledge of safety and quality requirements for safe operation of area.
- Knowledge of Google Suite.
- Operate a mechanical forklift
- Operate all equipment in designated area of responsibility
- Train others in proper equipment operation
- Work well in a team environment
- Ability to use mechanical and measurement devices and tools as necessary

Base salary and/or rate of pay ranges listed are exclusive of fringe benefits and potential bonuses.
Individual compensation offers will be determined based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to geographic location, relevant candidate experience and skill, education, and/or qualifications.
Base Hourly Rate: $26.52
