Job summary

Sumter School District is seeking an Assistant Football Coach for Chestnut Oaks Middle School. The role focuses on coaching, program leadership, and safety oversight for student-athletes at the middle school level.

The candidate should have extensive coaching experience and must meet South Carolina educator certification requirements. Responsibility includes coordinating with the Principal and Athletic Director, and promoting a strong school-community relationship.

Qualifications

• Minimum of five years of coaching experience.
• Must possess or demonstrate the qualifications to obtain South Carolina educator certification.
• Alternatives acceptable at the Board's discretion.

Responsibilities

• Provides leadership and assists principal in the selection, assignment, and evaluation of athletic coaches and staff members.
• Fosters good school-community relations by keeping the community aware of and responsive to the athletic program.
• Responsible for the health and safety of student athletes. Ensures proper safety and first aid procedures are followed; ensures all participants have a valid physical examination.
• Promotes and maintains positive relationships with parents and student athletes. Conducts parent meetings prior to the season.
• Ensures the sports program complies with the rules and regulations of the school, District, and league; communicates policies to team members.
• Ensures appropriate behavior of coaching staff and players; enforces attendance at coaches’ meetings and clinics; sponsors related activities.
