Job summary

Burns & McDonnell in Morristown, NJ seeks an entry-level Fire Protection Engineer to assist in multi-discipline design and the creation of comprehensive protection packages. You will work on fire suppression, alarm, and life-safety systems across diverse project types.

Minimum resume features include a Bachelor in Fire Protection Engineering with ABET preference. Internship experience and strong communication are valued as you gain field coordination and budgeting exposure.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in Fire Protection Engineering or related field from an accredited program.
• ABET accreditation strongly preferred.
• Internship or related consulting experience preferred.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work analytically in a quantitative environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist in design and coordination of fire protection systems (wet/dry/foam) and fire alarm systems.
• Support calculations including hydraulic analysis and power/voltage considerations.
• Assist in life-safety evaluations, occupancy classifications, and egress analyses.
• Support construction administration, shop drawing reviews, field inspections.
• Assist site evaluations and budgeting for projects.
