The Assistant Financial Controller assists the Controller and CFO in overseeing the daily accounting operations and is responsible for financial reporting of all entities, including oversight of the reporting process. This position will help guide the company’s strategic financial decisions.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Assist in oversight of local accounting functions, analyses of financial data, maintenance of supporting documentation, andpreparation of financial reporting requirements in accordance with US GAAP
• Preparation and effective communication ofdata which summarizes and forecasts company business activity and position in areas of income, expenses, and earnings based on past, present and expected operations, including the budgeting process, supporting documentation and justification
• Active engagement with management to drive improvements in operational performance, including identification of opportunities, development of strategies and tactics, support and monitoring of cost savings or process improvement initiatives
• Ensure documentation and procedures are in accordance with standard Company policies
• Communicate current operating performance to the Controller and CFO using key metrics, pipeline (future planned) spending, cost savings initiatives, process improvements, and estimates of monthly results
• Refinement and development of key performance metrics.
• Coordination and preparation for internal and external audits of company accounts, ensuring integrity of financial information
• Ensure accuracy of cost accounting methods
• Assist with and participate in continuous improvement events.
• Train and coach other team members to ensure consistent understanding of financial and operational performance basics.
• Maintain compliance with and current knowledge of all industry-applicable federal, state, and local regulatory requirements including management of the adherence process(es), including preparation of any regulatory reporting requirements, and communication of any changes and/or updates to management.
• Contact for tax assessments and any state/local tax preparations, filings and inquiries

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance or equivalent experience
• Licensure as or work towards a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) preferred
• 2+ years of progressive accounting experience; preferably in a healthcare/TPA environment
• Knowledge of budgeting and forecasting techniques as well as proficiently with financial statement preparation, projection and analysis
• Knowledge of accounting processes
• Skilled using various accounting software and experience in troubleshooting common accounting program problems, Experience in QuickBooks preferred
