The Role

As Assistant Financial Controller, you will shape the financial foundation of a rapidly growing company. Your responsibilities include managing our external bookkeeping relationship, ensuring accurate financial data, and driving process improvements and controls. Your work impacts strategic decisions, funding, and growth, involving tasks like managing month-end close, optimizing cash flow, and supporting ad hoc finance projects.

This role offers opportunities to lead finance initiatives, develop financial analyses, and support stakeholder reporting, allowing skill expansion in critical finance functions.

Location

• NYC-Hybrid based out of SoHo Office, 3 days/week

Responsibilities

• Oversee accurate financial statements, manage external bookkeeping, reconcile accounts, and reduce days-to-close.
• Manage A/R and cash flow forecasts, optimize invoicing, resolve anomalies, and improve collections.
• Manage A/P, cash outflow forecasts, purchase requests, and variance analysis to control spend.
• Handle ad hoc finance projects related to process improvements, financial analysis, and reporting.

Evaluation Criteria

• Timely, accurate financial statements and close process management.
• Expense accruals, account reconciliation, and control implementation.
• Process automation and workflow streamlining.
• Cash flow prediction, A/R management, and invoice accuracy.
• Purchase order compliance and budget visibility.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's in Accounting, Finance, or related; CPA preferred.
• 2-5 years experience; public accounting or in-house preferred.
• Experience managing external bookkeeping is a plus.
• Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks), advanced Excel, and data reconciliation skills.
• Strong controllership, process improvement, and communication skills.
