Job summary

JCW Group seeks an Assistant Controller to partner with the C-suite, owning GAAP and STAT reporting, close processes, and treasury operations. The role requires building a high-performing finance team in a regulated environment and guiding budgeting, forecasting, and governance activities.

You will lead a growing accounting group, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance across all financial statements and regulatory reporting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree is required; CPA strongly preferred.
• 8+ years of progressively responsible accounting experience with team leadership.
• Deep knowledge of GAAP and STAT accounting frameworks with close ownership.
• Experience partnering with executives, boards, auditors, and regulators.
• Proven track record of building and leading high-performing accounting teams.

Responsibilities

• Own the accuracy, timeliness, and integrity of financial reporting under GAAP and STAT.
• Lead the close process, GL, and financial statement prep, plus audit and governance.
• Direct budgeting and forecasting with performance analysis and variance reporting.
• Oversee treasury operations, cash management, and banking relationships.
• Lead, develop, and mentor a finance team with succession readiness.

This is a high-visibility opportunity for a finance leader ready to be a true strategic partner to the C-suite within a regulated insurance environment while leading and developing a growing Finance team. What You'll Do:

• Lead the close process, general ledger, and financial statement preparation, along with audit, regulatory compliance, and governance activities
• Direct budgeting and forecasting processes, providing financial performance analysis and variance reporting to leadership
• Oversee treasury operations, cash management, banking relationships, and investment administration
• Lead, develop, and mentor a team of accounting and finance professionals, building accountability and succession readiness

What They're Looking For:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field required; CPA strongly preferred
• 8+ years of progressively responsible accounting experience, including team leadership in a controllership function
• Deep knowledge of GAAP and STAT accounting frameworks, with hands-on ownership of the close and reporting cycle
• Demonstrated experience partnering with executive leadership, boards/governing committees, auditors, and regulators
• Strong track record of building and leading high-performing accounting teams
