Job summary

Holder Construction is seeking an Assistant Field Engineer to join our Operations team on the Manasses, VA project. This is a full-time role requiring hands-on field experience in layout and surveying, supporting a Field Engineer and coordinating with field crews.

You will use surveying equipment to plan and perform layout, verify tolerances, and ensure alignment with drawings and schedules. The position emphasizes safety, travel readiness, and overtime when required.

Qualifications

• Experience leading construction layout crews.
• Proficient with total stations, site levels, lasers and data collectors.
• Strong understanding of structural and shop drawings.
• Basic AutoCAD/Bluebeam knowledge and layout methods.
• Able to handle layout equipment and travel as needed.

Responsibilities

• Establish and maintain vertical and horizontal project control.
• Support and oversee field engineering crew activities with guidance from a Field Engineer.
• Plan, coordinate, and perform field engineering and layout using surveying equipment.
• Provide accurate and timely layout for construction activities in accordance with project schedules.
• Verify layout accuracy and tolerances against drawings and project specifications.
• Collaborate with field crews, project teams, and trade partners to resolve layout issues.
