Job summary

Hopkins Public Schools seeks an enthusiastic Assistant Fall Dance Coach to support the Fall Dance program at Hopkins High School. You will work with the Head Coach to provide a positive, competitive, and developmentally appropriate experience for student‑athletes while upholding Hopkins Athletics values.

You will plan practices, teach technique and routines, and promote safety, teamwork, and personal growth.

Qualifications

• Previous dance, coaching, teaching, or competitive dance experience preferred.
• Knowledge of dance technique, choreography, conditioning, and performance preparation.
• Ability to effectively communicate with high school student‑athletes.
• Strong organizational, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with the Head Coach and staff.
• Commitment to a positive, inclusive experience for all participants.
• Must meet Hopkins Public Schools and MSHSL coaching requirements.

SUMMARY:

Hopkins High School is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Assistant Fall Dance Coach to support the Fall Dance program. The Assistant Coach will work collaboratively with the Head Coach to provide a positive, competitive, and developmentally appropriate experience for student-athletes while promoting the values and expectations of Hopkins High School and Hopkins Athletics.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Assist the Head Coach with planning, organizing, and conducting practices, performances, competitions, and team activities.
• Provide instruction in dance technique, choreography, conditioning, and performance skills.
• Assist with developing and teaching routines appropriate for the skill level of student-athletes.
• Promote student‑athlete safety, sportsmanship, teamwork, accountability, and personal growth.
• Provide constructive feedback and individualized instruction to help dancers improve their skills and confidence.
• Assist with supervision of student‑athletes during practices, competitions, performances, travel, and other team activities.
• Support the Head Coach with team organization, communication, equipment, uniforms, and other program responsibilities.
• Maintain effective and professional communication with student‑athletes, families, school staff, and the Athletics/Activities Department.
• Follow all Hopkins Public Schools, Lake Conference, and MSHSL policies, procedures, and expectations.
• Help maintain a positive team culture that is inclusive, respectful, and supportive of all student‑athletes.
• Serve as a positive role model and representative of Hopkins High School.
• Perform other duties related to the Fall Dance program as assigned by the Head Coach or Athletics/Activities Department.

Schedule

The position requires availability for practices, performances, competitions, team activities, and other program-related responsibilities throughout the Fall Dance season. Some evening and weekend commitments may be required.

The Assistant Fall Dance Coach is expected to support the mission of Hopkins Athletics by helping student‑athletes develop through competition, teamwork, leadership, and personal growth while representing Hopkins High School with pride and professionalism.
