Job Description

Supervises mechanics and other personnel, providing training, technical expertise, and assistance in the general maintenance of Dallas County buildings. Responsibilities include installing, repairing, monitoring various systems, performing preventive maintenance, and instructing personnel. Assumes responsibilities as Building Facility Supervisor in their absence.

Management Scope: Supervises approximately 25 maintenance personnel.

Responsibilities
  1. Supervises and trains senior building mechanics, building mechanics, and maintenance technicians on new equipment/system installations, proper work methods, and safety protocols. Maintains time and attendance records.
  2. Plans, organizes, and controls the provision of comprehensive repair services for assigned facilities and equipment to ensure efficient operation.
  3. Oversees the Capital Improvement Plan for the facilities to ensure proper renovation and installation of equipment.
  4. Promotes and executes the quality improvement program in all matters.
  5. Receives, prioritizes, and assigns work orders for building maintenance.
  6. Ensures adequate supplies are ordered and available for projects, maintains related records, and prepares scopes of work for major repairs and installations.
  7. Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Education, Experience, and Training:

High school diploma or GED. Five (5) years of related work experience as per Facilities – Hiring/Promotion Matrix. One (1) year of related experience can substitute for one (1) year of formal training or any combination thereof.

Special Requirements/Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Valid Texas Driver’s License with a good driving record, in compliance with Dallas County Code.
  • Must pass a security clearance check.
  • Working knowledge of building systems.
  • This position requires working on a rotating on-call schedule, including after-hours, weekends, and holidays. Mandatory overtime may be required.

Physical/Environmental Requirements:

  • Ability to climb ladders and lift weights over 50 lbs with assistance.
  • Ability to withstand prolonged sitting, standing, bending, squatting, twisting, kneeling, stretching, lifting, and climbing ladders.
  • Ability to work in varying conditions and weather.
  • Must pass a security clearance check.
  • Position may require rotating shifts and days.

Juvenile Department: Work involves interacting with juveniles who may have committed dangerous or aggressive acts. Must have a high tolerance for emotionally demanding and stressful environments.
