Job summary

Centerra Group, based in Arlington, VA, is seeking an AFSO to manage security operations in support of program management, field operations, and corporate staff.

The role focuses on classified program management, clearance processing via JPAS, audits, and training development, with COMSEC responsibilities as needed. Strong written and verbal communication and adaptability are essential.

Qualifications

  • Active TS/SCI clearance with polygraph or ability to obtain.
  • Two years of experience processing security clearances.
  • In-depth knowledge of the National Industrial Security Program (NISP) and experience with DCSA required.
  • Working knowledge of present day security issues, DOD security regulations and Executive Orders required.
  • Direct experience with managing security specialist staff and working in an accredited SCIF preferred.
  • Excellent computer skills, including proficiency with JPAS, EQIP and Microsoft Office Suite required.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills with all levels of the organization.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage time and multiple priorities to completion.
  • Problem solving skills with an analytical thought process.
  • Ability to adapt to a rapidly changing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Initiates and administers a classified security program that enables the Company to pursue and perform work on classified contracts.
  • Initiates and reviews electronic security clearance applications for accuracy and submits them electronically through JPAS to the Defense Security Service (DSS).
  • Conducts industrial security program audits, independently or as part of an audit team.
  • Develops audit protocols, checklists, standard practice procedures and security education and training materials.
  • Provides technical leadership to less experienced personnel in auditing industrial security programs.
  • Safeguards classified material and conducts training on proper generation, marking and transmission of classified information.
  • As required, will be responsible for implementing and managing a Communications Security (COMSEC) account.
  • Keeps informed on new industrial regulatory requirements from the Defense Security Service, Office of Personnel Management and the National Security Agency.
  • Must have good oral and written communications skills.
  • Work is typically based in a busy office environment and subject to frequent interruptions. Business work hours are Monday-Friday standard core hours, however some extended or weekend hours may be required.

Job description

POSITION SUMMARY

The AFSO assists in providing overall management of the Security Department operations supporting program management, field operations and corporate staff.

Incumbent is responsible for security clearances, industrial security education and training and managing a classified controlled area. Incumbent supports all employees and independent contractors worldwide.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Initiates and administers a classified security program that enables the Company to pursue and perform work on classified contracts
  • Initiates and reviews electronic security clearance applications for accuracy and submits them electronically through the Joint Personnel Adjudication System (JPAS) to the Defense Security Service (DSS)
  • Conducts industrial security program audits, independently or as part of an audit team
  • Develops audit protocols, checklists, standard practice procedures and security education and training materials
  • Will be called upon to provide a high degree of technical expertise in the area of auditing industrial security programs, processes and requirements
  • Safeguards classified material and conducts training on proper generation, marking and transmission of classified information
  • As required, will be responsible for implementing and managing a Communications Security (COMSEC) account
  • Keeps informed on new industrial regulatory requirements from the Defense Security Service, Office of Personnel Management and the National Security Agency
  • Provides technical leadership to less experienced personnel

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Active U.S. Government TS/SCI security clearance with polygraph or active TS/SCI security clearance with the ability to obtain a polygraph.
  • Two years of experience in processing security clearances required. Certification of DCSA FSO desired.
  • In depth knowledge of the National Industrial Security Program (NISP) and experience with DCSA required.
  • Working knowledge of present day security issues, DOD security regulations and Executive Orders required.
