Job summary

Hudson Scenic Studios seeks a detail-oriented Assistant Estimator to support budgets, estimates, and proposals for scenic construction projects, collaborating with Estimating, Project Management, and Technical Design teams to price and document work.

The role involves reviewing drawings, researching costs, and maintaining records, with exposure to fabrication methods and production processes across projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant design/engineering field or equivalent experience.
• 1–3 years estimating, coordination, fabrication, or related experience (internships valued).
• Proficient in Microsoft 365 for project communication and documentation.
• Familiar with CAD tools: Inventor, AutoCAD, Bluebeam, or similar.
• Strong analytical, mathematical, and detail-oriented skills.
• Excellent organizational and multi-tasking in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong written and verbal communication; collaborative team player.

Responsibilities

• Assist in preparing budgets, cost estimates, and detailed proposals.
• Review drawings, specifications, and design information to support estimating.
• Research material costs, labor, vendor pricing, and data.
• Request and track vendor quotations.
• Identify technical design and construction challenges and their cost impacts.
• Support material takeoffs and quantity calculations.
• Collaborate with design, fabrication, and PM teams to gather estimate inputs.
• Maintain estimating databases and historical cost information.
• Evaluate fabrication methods and material options for budgets and design goals.
• Assist with process improvements in estimating and documentation.
