Job summary

Jobot is seeking an Assistant Estimating Manager to join a growing steel fabrication and erection team in the Richmond, VA area. You will lead a talented group of estimators, guide bid strategy, and stay hands-on in the bidding process to ensure accurate, competitive proposals.

You’ll collaborate with senior leadership, project management, engineering, and operations to align estimates with execution, monitor market pricing trends, and drive continuous improvement across the estimating function.

Qualifications

• Experience in estimating and bidding for construction projects.
• Ability to mentor and guide a team of estimators.
• Strong collaboration with project management, engineering, and operations.

Responsibilities

• Review bid opportunities and define project scope, schedule, and strategy.
• Analyze drawings, specifications, and related documents to ensure accurate takeoffs and proposals.
• Oversee estimates to ensure precision, consistency, and compliance with client and company standards.
• Conduct and support final bid reviews prior to client submission.
• Mentor and guide a team of estimators, fostering collaboration, accountability, and professional growth.
• Support your team in client communications, supplier negotiations, and problem-solving during the bid process.
• Participate in RFPs for design-assist projects, ensuring proposals meet technical and pricing requirements.
