Job Overview

The Assistant Project Manager supports the Project Manager in overseeing and coordinating various aspects of a project, including project planning, scheduling, monitoring progress, stakeholder communication, team and subcontractor coordination, expense tracking, and ensuring the project stays on track and within budget. Responsibilities also include preparing reports and assisting in resolving project-related issues. The role is crucial in ensuring successful project completion that meets its objectives.

This position is phase 3 of 3 on the pathway to becoming a Project Manager with one of the largest electrical technology companies in the country.

Essential Job Functions
  • Assist in estimating project scope and costs
  • Manage project expectations and subcontractor execution
  • Maintain project documentation
  • Track project expenses and budget
  • Prepare reports
  • Communicate with clients and subcontractors
  • Participate in project coordination and meetings
  • Research and prepare change requests for design issues
  • Identify solutions to design document problems
  • Monitor field and contract work for compliance
  • Assist with submittals and RFI processes
  • Support early completion and billing tracking
Education & Experience
Required
  • 2+ years as an Assistant Project Manager in commercial electrical work
  • Ability to work independently and in teams
  • Strong computer skills and quick learning ability
  • Commitment to improving communication, organization, and leadership skills
  • Effective scheduling and delegation skills
  • Conflict resolution and problem-solving skills
Preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience/certifications
  • Ability to read electrical drawings and specifications
  • Experience with computer-based estimating
  • Knowledge of billing and collections
