Job summary

ESPO Corporation in Kansas City is looking for an Assistant Electrical Designer for a 12-month contract. You will design and model various telecommunications projects, using Revit and CAD to create engineering drawings.

The ideal candidate will have relevant education and experience, possess strong software skills, and work collaboratively with project teams. The position offers benefits including PTO, health and dental insurance, and a 401k.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years related experience with a Bachelor's degree.
• Minimum 3 years related experience with an Associate degree.
• Minimum 4 years progressive detailing and design experience with a High School diploma.
• Strong knowledge of Autodesk Revit.

Job description

Assistant Electrical Designer

12 month contract – Kansas City, MO

Responsibilities

• Designing and modeling various telecommunication project types including physical pathway infrastructure designs (inside and outside plant), equipment plan layouts, structured cabling layouts, and management of 3D Revit models. Follow all company, client and project design and drafting standards.
• Lead set up of telecommunications Revit models according to project requirements at the beginning of a project for the telecom design team.
• Preparing engineering drawings from rough sketches or from general engineering and design information (verbal instructions and notes) using Revit and other CAD software programs.
• Assist with a variety of assignments using prescribed methods and standard techniques including drawing sequence and presentation, refining rough sketches, sizing various system components, problem analysis, and performing calculations on non-routine assignments of substantial variety and complexity.
• Produce initial designs or sketches and redline/mark-up drawings on ongoing projects with limited engineering oversight.
• Apply design codes and specifications related to design requirements.
• Complete and review design drawings within scope, budget and schedule. Perform project tasks and assignments within budgeted hours and deadlines.
• Organize and maintain all revisions of project drawings, and project-related information using prescribed methods and standards.
• Responsible for telecommunications BIM coordination with other disciplines and the overall project BIM coordinator.
• Responsible for telecommunications model health and data integrity for assigned projects.
• Performs other duties as assigned
• Complies with all policies and standards

Qualifications

• Bachelor Degree in drafting technology or related field and minimum 2 years related experience required or
• Associate Degree and minimum 3 years related experience required or
• High School degree and minimum 4 years progressive detailing and design experience required.
• Strong understanding of design software such as: Revit, AutoCAD, and Excel to develop the design deliverables. Ability to learn and effectively utilize new design software and programs. Experience in Autodesk Revit is strongly preferred.
• Ability to utilize both 2D and 3D applications to prepare engineering drawings.
• Basic knowledge in telecommunications design, calculations and systems.
• Basic knowledge in the theory and practices of engineering discipline; competent in the fundamental concepts of other disciplines as they relate to the assigned discipline; and capable of operating related discipline design software necessary to execute production tasks.
• Ability to work collaboratively with others (Project Managers, Engineers and Designers) in a multi-discipline project team environment to resolve design or drawing issues as appropriate and to accomplish objectives.
• Excellent written & verbal communication skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and attention to detail.
