Job summary

DreamWorks Animation in Glendale, CA seeks an Assistant Editor to support the Lead Editor and a flexible editorial team. Hybrid work is required with three days in the office weekly. The role focuses on maintaining media clarity, coordinating sessions, and preparing cuts for review to drive delivery timelines.

The candidate will handle dialogue, SFX, temp music, and media organization, collaborating with editors, sound, and production to deliver a final approved cut in the specified format.

Qualifications

• Intimate knowledge of AVID Media Composer.
• Some experience with Premiere Pro and DaVinci Resolve.
• Understanding of professional video/audio standards, codecs, and movement of content between post‑production applications.
• Familiarity with Photoshop and Adobe After Effects.
• Knowledge of FLIX, Autodesk ShotGrid, Pro Tools, Linux/Unix and Windows operating systems.
• Animation editing experience.

Responsibilities

• Support the Lead Editor, Associate Editor(s), and Assistant Editor I in daily production and editorial tasks.
• Ensure accurate presentation of all film-related materials (story reels, screeners, previews, DCPs, etc.).
• Lead, participate in, or prepare for scratch, production, and ADR dialogue recording sessions.
• Import, organize, and break down dialogue recordings for the Lead Editor.
• Curate SFX and temporary music for the Lead Editor.
• Assist with cutting temporary SFX and music for the story reel.
• Create all media outputs from editorial in collaboration with Assistant Editor I.
• Import and organize new media deliveries from Production.
• Publish all cut lists and change notes to Production.
• Serve as the primary point of contact with Technical Directors in production.
• Supervise quality standards of all work performed at audio houses and other post houses.
• Spot the final film with the Sound Designer and Composer.
• Act as a creative liaison between Directors/Production, sound designer, and mixers.
• Attend all screenings (studio and preview) and incorporate changes resulting from those screenings.
• Attend production meetings as needed.
• Deliver an approved cut of the film in the required format to the sound and music departments on the handover date.
