State Highway Administration in District 1 – Wicomico County seeks an Assistant District Utilities Engineer (Transportation Engineer V). You will supervise a team of Engineering Technicians handling plan review, permit approval, inspection and acceptance for utility-related projects in District 1.
You will provide technical guidance to engineers and consultants on work zone traffic control and utility relocation plans, and oversee MUTTS and ADA compliance during issuing and construction phases.

The Assistant District Utility Engineer (DUE) is responsible for the direct supervision of a team of Engineering Technicians that perform the plan review, approval, coordination, inspection and acceptance for maintenance for all permits issued in District 1. District 1 permit inspection team oversees a variety of construction activities within the SHA right-of-way including complex road widening, bridge widening, relocation and installation of all type of overhead and underground utilities including, but not limited to, high voltage electric transmission and distribution lines, high pressure gas lines, high pressure water and sewer lines and communication and fiber optic lines. These permit projects support economic development and operation of critical utility infrastructure throughout District 1. This position acts as the District Utility Engineer in his absence and has the authority to provide signatory approval on the SHA Utility and District Office permits. This position also provides technical guidance to professional engineers and engineering consultant firms in developing work zone traffic control plans and utility relocation plans. Additionally, the incumbent will aid in overseeing Miss Utility Ticket Tracking System (MUTTS) and Lane Closure Tracking System. This position will also be responsible for monitoring and giving technical guidance for ADA requirements during issuing and construction phase of the Utility Permit.

The State Highway Administration (SHA) has been named a Training Magazine award winner for the seventh consecutive year.
Possession of a bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited college or university.
Five years experience in professional engineering.
Three (3)years of experience in installation, modification or relocation or utility facilities on construction projects.
