Job summary

MoDOT is seeking an Assistant District Maintenance Engineer to support the district maintenance engineer in safe, efficient operations of the state highway system across the district, including paving, sign, and bridge maintenance.

Alternate locations may be considered such as Sikeston, Park Hills, and Poplar Bluff. The role requires ABET-accredited engineering credentials, PE license in Missouri, and extensive highway experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering from ABET-accredited program.
• Licensed Professional Engineer in Missouri.
• Six years of highway or transportation engineering experience.

Responsibilities

• Direct all district maintenance activities in the absence of the district maintenance engineer.
• Prioritize and monitor maintenance tasks within the district.
• Serve as a technical resource; evaluate and inspect district maintenance activities for policy compliance.
• Provide supervision and guidance to district maintenance personnel.
• Inspect maintenance equipment for compliance with preventive maintenance and safety standards.

The assistant district maintenance engineer assists the district maintenance engineer in coordinating the effective, safe and efficient operation of maintenance activities on the state highway system within the district including concrete and asphalt paving operations, highway sign maintenance and bridge maintenance. Responsibilities are performed under general supervision.

• Serves as district maintenance engineer in the absence of the incumbent to direct all maintenance activities within the district.
• Prioritizes and monitors maintenance activities within the district, as assigned.
• Serves as a technical resource for, evaluates and inspects district maintenance activities to ensure performance is in accordance with department policies.
• Provides supervision, assistance and guidance to district maintenance personnel, as assigned.
• Inspects maintenance equipment to ensure compliance with department preventive maintenance and safety standards.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited college or university curriculum.
• Licensed as a Professional Engineer in the State of Missouri.
• Six years of experience in highway or transportation engineering.
