A leading state agency is seeking an Assistant District Engineer (Operations) to manage engineering and maintenance programs for a district. Responsibilities include leadership for snow removal, pavement repair, and drainage maintenance, requiring professional civil engineering licensure and extensive experience. Our Assistant District Engineer (Operations) position has full managerial authority and accountability for human and fiscal resources and other resources needed to deliver these aspects of the maintenance program district-wide in a manner that addresses customer needs. The incumbent will be responsible for:
1) Snow and Ice Removal operations
2) Pavement Repair
3) Drainage Maintenance
4) Traffic Safety Services
5) Landscape/Roadside Maintenance
6) Fleet Management and Purchasing
7) Roadway Regulations.
Detroit Lakes has 412 lakes within a 25-mile radius with a 1-mile-long public sand beach and is only 40 minutes to Fargo/Moorhead. You’ll find year-round recreation including skiing, fishing, bird watching, hiking, biking, skating, mountain biking, snowmobiling, boating and 8 area golf courses.
Housing in the area includes lakeshore, residential city, rural developments, hobby farms, apartments, condominiums and townhouses. The Detroit Lakes school district includes two elementary schools, a middle and a high school. Students can also attend three parochial schools and/or Minnesota State Community and Technical College.
