Job Summary

The Bronx District Attorney seeks an experienced attorney to serve as Chief of the Public Integrity Bureau (PIB). The Public Integrity Bureau, within the Investigations Division, investigates and prosecutes crimes committed by public servants, government employees, and elected officials. The Bureau also investigates the use of excessive force and misconduct committed by uniformed public servants, including non-fatal shootings, by members of the NYPD and NYC Department of Correction. The Bureau collaborates with the Internal Affairs Bureau, the Force Investigation Division, the NYC Department of Investigations, and other law enforcement partners.

Responsibilities

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: Specific duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Bureau.
  • Lead, supervise, and direct investigations and prosecutions.
  • Oversee grand jury presentations.
  • Review applications for search warrants and pen registers.
  • Develop relationships with law enforcement agencies.
  • Motivate and organize staff to perform their duties with integrity.
  • Conduct case reviews and conferences.
  • Respond clearly and effectively to complex legal issues.
  • Work with a diverse staff.
  • Participate in training for personnel and outside agencies.
  • Communicate across organizational levels.
  • Manage the Public Integrity Bureau, including responding to crime scenes.
  • Be available nights, weekends, and holidays, including on-call shifts.
  • Perform other duties to support the Bureau and the Office.
Qualifications
  • Juris Doctorate and significant criminal law experience.
  • 10+ years of experience with prior supervisory roles.
  • Active and in Good Standing with the NYS Bar.
  • US Citizenship and NY residency from the first day.
  • Strong knowledge of NY Penal Law and Criminal Procedure Law, including CPL Article 245.
  • Experience with criminal investigations and prosecutions involving public corruption and misconduct.
  • Felony trial experience, including violent felonies.
  • Grand jury experience, including witness presentation.
  • Strong legal writing and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise good judgment.
  • Business planning and forecasting skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel.
  • Excellent organizational and presentation skills.
  • Ability to handle complex investigations professionally and fairly.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Knowledge of NYS courts and criminal justice system.
