Job summary

Xavier University’s Office of Student Success seeks an Assistant Director for TRiO, to deliver academic, personal, and career coaching for students. You will manage a caseload, monitor progress, and advise on study strategies, goal setting, and persistence.

The role emphasizes confidential coaching and collaboration with campus partners. The position requires a Master’s degree in a relevant field and 1–3 years of related experience, with evening/weekend hours as needed.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree required in Counseling, Higher Education, Student Affairs, Social Work, or related field.
• 1-3 years of related experience.
• Strong knowledge of advising, coaching, and student development concepts.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive academic, professional and personal counseling to students.
• Serve as primary academic advisor to a caseload of students with regular meetings.
• Monitor progress, maintain advising logs, and document outcomes.
• Develop and deliver seminars on academic planning, career development, and personal growth.
• Coordinate tutoring, workshops and programs to foster student success.
• Collaborate with faculty and staff to support persistence and retention.
• Maintain FERPA compliance and protect student confidentiality.
