Hiring Department

The Assistant Director of Student Organization Development and Administration plays a crucial role in fostering a dynamic and engaged campus environment by developing, implementing, and assessing student organization development initiatives for student leaders and student organization advisors in the Division of Student Affairs at the University of Missouri.

Reporting to the Associate Director, Student Activities & Engagement, the Assistant Director will collaborate with various campus departments and stakeholders to create opportunities for student organization leaders to enhance their leadership skills, manage risk, and engage the campus community.

Job Description

Design, implement, and assess leadership development and risk management programs, workshops, and seminars tailored to the multitude of needs and interests of student organization leaders and advisors.

Facilitate student organization training sessions, retreats, and one-on-one coaching sessions to help students develop essential leadership competencies.

Provide guidance and support to over 700 student organizations, assisting them in effectively navigating the complexities of student organization administration, risk management, and advocacy.

Oversee two Coordinators in the development and administration of student organization training, recognition, and finance processes.

Develop and implement assessment strategies to measure the effectiveness and impact of student organization training programs and initiatives.

Manage logistics, budgeting, and marketing efforts for student organization development and training programs and events. Enhance existing partnerships between Risk and Compliance, General Counsel, Advancement, and other campus stakeholders to ensure policy alignment and foster opportunities for student organizations to be successful. Cultivate and maintain partnerships with academic departments, campus offices, and external organizations to expand development opportunities for student organizations.

Shift

8:00am-5:00pm Monday-Friday.

this position may require evening and weekend hours supporting activities and programs within the department. Occasionally division and campus projects may require additional hours outside of your normal schedule.

Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 4 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.

Preferred Qualifications

Master's degree in higher education administration, student affairs, counseling, or a related field.Minimum of 3 years of experience working in student affairs or a related area, with a focus on student organization development.Demonstrated knowledge of leadership and risk management principles, models, and best practices in higher education.
