Job summary

Bergen Community College is seeking an Assistant Director of Student Life and Development to lead the New Student Orientation program and supervise student orientation leaders. You will oversee training, logistics, and engagement initiatives to support enrollment and student success.

You will manage the NSO content, coordinate schedules and presenters, and partner with campus offices to offer a vibrant series of leadership programs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Minimum of three years’ experience, in a college setting, in student activities, student development, and new student orientation programs.
• Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: understanding of community college mission; proficient in Microsoft Office; experience with organization-management software.

Responsibilities

• Supports the oversight of day-to-day operation of the Office of Student Life including planning of programs and supervision of staff.
• Administers policies and procedures for Student Clubs and organizations.
• Designs and manages the New Student Orientation (NSO) program.
• Updates NSO content each semester to stay current.
• Coordinates NSO schedules, presenters, and logistics.
• Hires, supervises, and trains Student Orientation Leaders / Peer Mentors.
• Coordinates post-Orientation communication, engagement, and retention initiatives.
• Develops cocurricular student programs and events to reinforce student learning.
