POSITION TITLE: Assistant Director -Strategic Analytics
DEPARTMENT:Information and Technology Services
PRIMARY LOCATION: Fall River, MA
REPORTS TO:Director, Strategic Analytics
POSITION STATUS: This is a full-time,non-unit professional position with benefits.
SALARY: $93,136.48 - $97,851.51 annually

STATEMENT OF DUTIES:

The Assistant Director of Strategic Analytics supports college-wide data-informed decision-making by coordinating and advancing institutional reporting, analytics, and applied research activities. Working collaboratively with academic and administrative stakeholders, the Assistant Director provides analytic consultation, ensures data quality and consistency, and supports the responsible use of institutional data in alignment with established priorities, standards, and governance practices.

This role emphasizes the coordination, validation, analysis, and synthesis of institutional data, translating findings into clear and actionable insights that support planning, equity initiatives, compliance requirements, and continuous improvement across the College.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, DUTIES, AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Reporting & Compliance
    • Coordinate and oversee the validation and submission of state, federal, system, and accreditation reports (e.g., IPEDS, HEIRS, NECHE, Achieving the Dream), ensuring accuracy, consistency, and alignment with reporting standards, under the direction of the Director.
    • Maintain reporting calendars, documentation, and standard operating procedures.
  • Surveys & Data Collection
    • Administer and analyze institutional surveys, including annual and ad hoc surveys.
    • Maintain and manage the survey review process and survey calendar, including consultation on survey purpose, timing, and audience.
    • Interpret and synthesize survey results, providing summaries, insights, and consultative support to institutional and departmental stakeholders.
  • Analytics & Research
    • Conduct applied analytics and research projects using quantitative and qualitative methods.
    • Analyze student, enrollment, academic, workforce, and operational data to support planning and decision making.
    • Identify and communicate trends, patterns, and insights to internal stakeholders.
  • Data Literacy & Institutional Data Use
    • Promote effective and appropriate use of institutional data by supporting and training the college community to access, navigate, and engage with internal and external data resources.
  • Data Systems & Reporting Tools
    • Provide oversight and guidance for the use of institutional data systems and reporting tools, ensuring activities align with established reporting practices and institutional priorities.
    • Ensure consistency in data definitions, standards, and documentation, supporting adherence to governance protocols across reporting efforts.
    • Monitor data quality processes and documentation practices, identifying issues and coordinating resolution in collaboration with analysts and system partners
  • Operations & Professional Practice
    • Supervise and support analysts, interns, or student employees, as assigned.
    • Contribute to workflow coordination, project tracking, and process improvement initiatives.
    • Maintain data confidentiality and comply with FERPA and institutional data use standards.
    • Additional responsibilities as determined by the Director of Strategic Analytics and/or other college designee.
Requirements:

Required Qualifications

NOTE: Unless otherwise noted, all required qualifications must be met by date of hire.

  • Minimum of a bachelor's degree (or 8 years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree).
  • A minimum of two (2) years of relevant experience in the management of people or projects. of professional experience in higher education analytics, institutional research, or applied data analysis.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills, including knowledge with business intelligence and visualization tools (e.g., Survey software, Tableau).
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 and related platforms.
  • Effective written, verbal, and presentation skills for communicating data insights to diverse audiences.
  • Ability to work effectively with a diverse student body, faculty, and staff.
  • License to travel to other campuses as required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in a field emphasizing data analysis, research, higher education, or a closely related discipline.
  • Experience working in a community college or public higher education environment or population.
  • Proficient in business intelligence and data visualization software, including Tableau, Lightcast Analysts, and survey platforms.
  • Ability to speak a language in addition to English.
