Job summary

Rhode Island College is seeking an Assistant Director of Security and Safety of Administration to support the Director of Security and Safety in administering campus security operations, policy development, and accreditation efforts on the Providence campus.

The role leads training programs, conducts internal audits, manages the Field Training and Evaluation Program, administers key/access-control systems, and ensures compliance with RIPAC and CALEA standards, while coordinating staff activities

Qualifications

• Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
• Knowledge of Rhode Island laws, codes and standards governing working conditions and general safety.
• Knowledge of the principles and practices of modern law enforcement administration.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Director in managing the College Security and Safety Department with regard to the administration of training and development of written directives/policies as it pertains to campus security, safety and health in accordance with Board of Education and College policy.
• Review a wide variety of complex legislative and technical issues concerning law enforcement standards and the accreditation process.
• Coordinate the college’s Police Accreditation programs in its efforts to maintain RIPAC and national CALEA certifications.
• Draft new written directives/policies or assign writing projects to others that achieve accreditation objectives.
