Job summary

UMass Boston is seeking an Assistant Director of Residential Life to lead co-curricular and administrative initiatives, foster community, and supervise staff within the Residential Life program.

The role requires a Master’s degree and 3–5 years in residential life or student affairs, with live-in experience preferred; candidates must be able to travel for professional meetings and participate in on-call rotations while residing within 30 minutes of campus.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree and 3–5 years in residential life or student affairs, urban setting preferred.
• Two years of professional live-in experience required.
• Leadership in housing or student life and experience with assessment/creative partnerships preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead recruitment, hiring, and training of Residential Life staff and student staff; oversee hall desk operations.
• Foster undergraduate student experience by connecting with the academic community and increasing satisfaction.
• Develop an engaged residential community aligned with Student Affairs strategic plans and learning outcomes.
• Oversee programming planning, budgeting, implementation, and assessment.
• Serve as housing and residential life systems administrator (Roompact) and budget administrator.
• Provide departmental assessment support including student performance and conduct concerns.
• Serve as a Title IX officer and student care point of contact.
• Represent Residential Life to university offices and external partners.
• Engage with students, families, and student organizations on departmental issues.
• Manage department tech and website; perform other duties as assigned.
