Job summary

Hofstra University is seeking an Assistant Director, Prospect Research to lead prospect development activities across the fundraising life cycle. You will partner with fundraisers and leadership to deliver strategic information and optimize donor engagement.

Reporting to the AVP Advancement Operations and Strategy, this role requires collaborating with gift officers and volunteers, maintaining data integrity, and advancing campaign preparedness through research and analytics.

Qualifications

• Minimum 4 years of experience in prospect development or related field.
• Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to effectively work and interact respectfully within a diverse and inclusive environment.
• Familiarity with databases (Blackbaud a plus) and Microsoft applications.
• Experience with free and paid prospect research tools such as LexisNexis and LinkedIn Sales Navigator.

Responsibilities

• Collects, synthesizes, analyzes, and interprets biographical and financial data to produce briefings and reports.
• Prepare research profiles to support fundraising and donor engagement strategies.
• Calculate wealth estimates and capacity ratings for philanthropic contributions and volunteer roles.
• Identify and rank a pool of prospective donors and volunteers for the university's fundraising activities.
• Serve as a resource for staff on prospect management tools.
• Stay current on fundraising best practices, higher education trends, and CASE standards.
• Performs other duties as assigned in support of Development and Alumni Affairs.
