Job summary

The City of Fort Lauderdale is seeking a senior administrator to direct the operations of an assigned department, using initiative and judgment to ensure efficient service delivery and compliance with laws and regulations. This at-will management role includes enhanced vacation days and a monthly vehicle allowance.

Responsibilities include planning, budgeting, supervising staff, and leading major initiatives while maintaining accountability across divisions and with community partners.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Public Administration, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Five (5) years in local government administration at a division manager level or higher.
• Previous supervisory experience required.
• Candidates will pass a background investigation, including a polygraph, prior to employment.
• Veterans’ Preference requires DD214 Member 4 or equivalent documentation.

Responsibilities

• Plans, coordinates, manages, supervises, and oversees department operations and major initiatives.
• Manages assigned personnel; hires, trains, and evaluates employees.
• Sets goals, objectives, and work plans; oversees program and project development.
• Administers annual budgets for the operation and staffing; monitors expenditures.
• Conducts research and prepares reports and recommendations.
