Job Summary


This is an open-rank Research Associate announcement. The selected candidate will serve as the Assistant Director of Innovation & Entrepreneurship for the Biolocity program. The Assistant Director will support the Director in evaluating and expanding the Biolocity program by overseeing project management, coordination, and continuous improvement. Responsibilities include supervising interns, managing team quarterly reports, and ensuring timely delivery and submission of funding cycle materials to the oversight committee. This role also involves tracking project funding in collaboration with finance teams at Emory and Georgia Tech, as well as funded project teams, to ensure proper use and accountability of resources.

The Assistant Director will collaborate with faculty, academic units, colleges, campus organizations, and external partners to support and lead innovation and entrepreneurship initiatives and curricula across both institutions. They will coordinate events such as workshops, competitions, and celebrations, and actively participate in campus committees, working groups, and related activities.


Required Qualifications


This position vacancy is an open rank announcement. Final job offer will be dependent on candidate qualifications in alignment with Research Faculty ranks as outlined in section 3.2.1 of the Georgia Tech Faculty Handbook (https://www.policylibrary.gatech.edu/faculty-handbook/3.2.1-research-faculty-hiring-and-promotion-guidelines)

Research Associate I

  • Bachelor's degree

Research Associate II

  • A Master's degree and three (3) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of that degree, or
  • A Master's degree and five (5) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of a Bachelor's degree, or
  • A Doctoral degree.

Preferred Qualifications


  • Master's Degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Five or more years of job-related experience.
  • At least three years of professional experience in innovation or entrepreneurship education, startup development or other directly related fields.
  • Experience with regulatory, quality, and funding organizations across the life sciences technology sector.
  • Experience in managing innovative projects across the product life cycle.
  • Experience in analyzing the risks, barriers, and benefits of technology in the healthcare sector.
  • Experience collaborating with clinicians, engineers, industry professionals, college faculty, and students.
  • Experience managing budgets.
  • A people-focused work style that facilitates collaboration, resolves conflicts, and drives engagement. Highly organized with an optimistic attitude.
  • Familiarity with national organizations and scholarship focused on innovation and entrepreneurship.
