The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
Position Summary

Reporting to the Director of Recreation Operations, Assistant Director of Physical Education, the Assistant Director of Recreation Operations assists the Director of Recreation Operations in managing student workers, locker services, equipment rentals, and fitness areas at the Marcellus Hartley Dodge Physical Fitness Center. The Assistant Director ensures the smooth operation of assigned responsibilities while providing exceptional customer service to facility members.
Responsibilities
- Responsibilities include supervising in the general management of scheduling logistics of physical education and recreation, with support to intercollegiate athletics at Dodge Physical Fitness Center and van use.
- Assist in coordinating and implementing of all recreation facility operation staffing, including but not limited to hiring, training, payroll, evaluating qualified staff, supervising maintenance of day to day operations, etc for equipment room, fitness room, and lifeguards at Dodge Physical Fitness Center.
- Assists in Uris Pool operations and with maintaining and monitoring all recreational cardio, strength, and rental equipment.
- Tracking and inventory control of towels, locker keys, and rental equipment.
- Reporting and monitoring all custodial, mechanical, and electrical concerns of the facility, primarily recreation operations spaces.
- Assisting with Risk Management support of the department including providing CPR, First Aid, and AED certification trainings to all staff as needed.
- Assisting with managing a fiscally-sound budget, contract negotiation, billing, and delivery of goods and services.
- Providing excellent customer service to maintain the integrity of the athletic and recreation facilities.
- Duties as assigned in the required Physical Education program.
- Contributing to the maintenance of good working relationships with all members of the Department and assuming other duties as assigned by the Director of Intercollegiate Athletics and Physical Education.
- Exhibiting the highest professional standards and ethical behavior with regard to adherence to NCAA, Ivy League, University, and Department of Intercollegiate Athletics code of ethics and rules and regulations.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree.
- 0-2 years of experience in recreation/facility operations.
- Demonstrated ability to managed budget expectations.
- Demonstrated leadership experience.
- Strong organizational skill.
