Position Summary

  • Reports to the DON upon arrival to the building
  • Provides a plan of action for the day
  • Receives instructions and additional tasks every day

Qualification/Responsibilities

  • Must possess a current, unencumbered, active license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of employment
  • Infection control certification and minimum of 1 year experience in infection control required (logs, tracking sheets, staff education/monitoring, labs, etc.)
  • Assists with planning and organizes monthly and urgent staff meetings
  • Implements in-services and competencies together with supervisors
  • Ensures that the Nursing Procedures Manual is current at all times and reflects the day-to-day nursing care procedures used by the facility
  • Assures there is a daily work assignment process in place, checks assignment sheets on all units to ensure they are properly filled out, collects sheets from previous shifts and places them in a binder in a chronological order
  • Assists with discharge planning to assure the discharge of a resident is a proper discharge and the resident and family are provided for upon discharge
  • Assist with admissions to ensure completion of all aspects of the process on the day of the admission, greet new admissions and families in a timely fashion
  • Responsible to complete daily rounds of the facility
  • Monitors nursing service personnel to ensure they are following established safety regulations in the use of equipment and supplies
  • Ensures stock level of medications, medical supplies, equipment is maintained on premises at all times to adequately meet the needs of the residents
  • Must carry out instructions given by the DON promptly and efficiently
  • Responsible to assist DON with monitoring that completion of nursing events by staff contains all required components/statements
  • Assist with completing nursing reportables as needed
  • Shares weekend on call duties with the DON every other weekend; must come in on designated weekend to work the floor if there are too many call offs that facility does not meet staffing requirements

  • Salary: $90,000-$95,000 (annually)
