Ciena Healthcare is seeking an Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) to support the Director of Nursing in planning, organizing, and directing the Nursing department to deliver high-quality resident care. The role involves direct supervision of nursing staff, regulatory compliance, and contributing to clinical outcomes and family satisfaction.

The ADON will participate in staff development, oversee daily operations, and help ensure adherence to policies and laws affecting long-term care

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing.
• Progressive nursing leadership experience in a Skilled Nursing Facility or related healthcare setting.
• Knowledge of state and federal regulations governing long‑term care.

Responsibilities

• Assists the Director of Nursing Services in supervising nursing care provided by staff.
• Carries out supervisory responsibilities per organizational policies and laws.
• Interviews, recommends, hires, and trains employees.
• Plans, assigns, and directs work.
• Prepares work assignment sheets considering resident safety and staff capabilities.
• Receives calls and arranges replacements as needed.
• Transfers employees among units as needed.
• Prepares performance evaluations affecting tenure and wages.
• Disciplines staff up to discharge.
• Supervises assigned staff and ensures proper supervision.
• Approves correction of timekeeping records.
• Receives and resolves employee complaints.
• Determines rotation of staff within the facility.
• Monitors and improves staff performance.

Responsibilities:

• Assists the Director of Nursing Services in the supervision of nursing care provided by nursing staff and others for whom they are administratively or professionally responsible.
• Assists in carrying out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organizational policies and applicable laws.
• Interviews, recommends, hires, and trains employees.
• Plans, assigns, and directs work.
• Prepares work assignment sheets, taking into consideration Resident safety, the educational preparation, experience, knowledge, and ability of the persons to whom the assignments are made.
• May receive calls and find replacements or absent staff.
• Transfers employees among units as needed.
• Prepares performance evaluations with the understanding that such evaluations impact tenure of probationary employees and wage increases of non-probationary employees.
• Disciplines employees up to and including discharge.
• Adequately supervises assigned staff and assures that those staff are supervising employees assigned to them.
• Approves the correction of errors in timecards or other timekeeping records.
• Receives and resolves employee complaints.
• Determines rotation of employees within the facility.
• Monitors and corrects job performance of employees.

Requirements:

• A graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing, Bachelor’s degree in nursing preferred.
• Progressive nursing leadership experience in a Skilled Nursing Facility or related healthcare setting.
• Progressive nursing leadership experience in a Skilled Nursing Facility or related healthcare setting.
• Knowledgeable in state and federal regulations governing long‑term care.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

• Current state license as a Registered Nurse to practice.
• Infection Preventionist certification preferred
• Current CPR certification or CPR certification required within 90 days of employment
