Job summary

Parkside Psychiatric Hospital & Clinic is seeking an Assistant Director of Nursing & Education to support the DON in planning, directing, and evaluating nursing services while leading clinical education across the hospital.

You will collaborate with leadership to ensure safe, patient-centered care, coordinate education programs, and drive quality and compliance in a behavioral health setting.

Qualifications

• Current Oklahoma RN license.
• BSN required; MSN or related graduate degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist the DON in planning, organizing, directing, and evaluating nursing department operations.
• Provide leadership and mentoring to RNs, LPNs, and MHTs.
• Coordinate orientation, onboarding, competency validation, and annual assessments.
• Develop, implement, and evaluate clinical education and staff development programs.
• Ensure regulatory readiness and compliance with Joint Commission, CMS, DHS, and others.
• Support quality improvement, patient safety, and performance initiatives.
• Assist with staffing oversight, recruitment, retention, and development.
• Participate in audits, surveys, and action planning.

Together we facilitate healing, one patient at a time.The Assistant Director of Nursing & Education (ADON/Education) assists the Director of Nursing (DON) in planning, organizing, directing, and evaluating nursing services while leading the development, implementation, and oversight of clinical education programs throughout the hospital. This position promotes clinical excellence, regulatory compliance, workforce development, competency validation, and quality patient care. Because the organization does not utilize unit directors or managers within nursing services, this position works collaboratively with all members of the leadership team and frontline staff to support patient care, operations, and organizational goals.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESAssist the DON in planning, organizing, directing, and evaluating nursing department operations.Provide leadership, support, and mentoring to RNs, LPNs, and MHTs.Collaborate with hospital leadership and staff to ensure safe, effective, patient-centered care.Coordinate orientation, onboarding, competency validation, and annual competency assessments.Develop, implement, and evaluate clinical education and staff development programs.Maintain regulatory readiness and compliance with Joint Commission, CMS, DHS, and other requirements.Support quality improvement, patient safety, and performance improvement initiatives.Monitor educational outcomes and competency completion.Promote evidence-based practice, certification, and professional development.Assist with staffing oversight, recruitment, retention, and employee development.Participate in audits, surveys, incident reviews, and corrective action planning.Prepare reports and recommendations regarding nursing operations and education programs.Serve as a clinical resource and role model for professional practice.Participate in committees, meetings, and organizational initiatives.Current Oklahoma RN license.BSN required; MSN or related graduate degree preferred.Minimum five years clinical nursing experience.Minimum two years behavioral health experience.Leadership, supervisory, education, or staff development experience preferred.Current BLS/CPR certification.Aggression Management, Trauma-Informed Care, and De-escalation training required.Benefits include:Medical, Dental, and VisionGenerous Paid Time Off and Holidays401K and match start immediately, and includes a generous matchCompany Paid Life Insurance and Disability and more!We are an Equal Opportunity Employer!
