Role Description

The Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) assists the Director of Nursing (DON) with organizing, directing, and overseeing the responsibilities and activities of the Nursing Department to meet the needs of our residents, their families and our staff. Serves as the Infection Preventionist for the organization. The ADON will also be an integral part of our culture change initiative and will assist in leading this journey.

A successful candidate will possess a current license as a Registered Nurse by the Commonwealth of PA, working knowledge of Federal and State regulations governing long term care, excellent leadership, communication and organizational skills. Must also be certified as an Infection Preventionist or be willing to complete training to become certified. Minimum of one year of experience in long-term care management and restorative nursing programs preferred.

Qualifications

• Current PA licensure a a Registered Nurse in good standing.
• Knowledge of PA State and Federal regulations related to long-term care. Thorough knowledge and understanding of those regulations focused on Infection Control, Pressure Ulcers, and QAPI.
• PA State Infection Control Certification or ability to successfully complete the PA State approved course.
• Minimum of one year of experience in wound/ostomy care and treatment; certification preferred.
• Ability to use Microsoft Office programs, as well as Electronic Health Record (EHR) programs.
• Must follow all universal precautions procedures, including use of personal protective equipment due to potential for exposure to bloodborne pathogens.
• Ability to attend educational seminars and conferences as needed to stay up-to-date with regulatory requirements.
