The Orchards at Big Rapids in Big Rapids, MI is seeking an experienced Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) to join our nursing leadership team. The ADON will work closely with the Director of Nursing to support daily operations, care quality, staff development, and regulatory readiness.

Ideal candidates will hold a Michigan RN license, have leadership experience in skilled nursing or long-term care, and be proficient with electronic health records.

Qualifications

• Current Michigan nursing license in good standing.

Responsibilities

Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON)

Salary: $90,000–$100,000 per year

The Orchards of Big Rapids is seeking an experienced and motivated Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) to join our nursing leadership team.

The ADON works closely with the Director of Nursing and facility leadership to support the daily operations of the nursing department, promote quality resident care, and provide guidance and support to our nursing team. This is an excellent opportunity for a nurse leader who enjoys developing staff, solving problems, and being actively involved in resident care and clinical operations.

What You'll Do

As the Assistant Director of Nursing, you will:

• Support the Director of Nursing with the daily management of nursing services and clinical operations.

• Assist with recruiting, onboarding, training, and development of nursing staff.

• Help maintain appropriate nursing coverage and address staffing needs as they arise.

• Provide coaching, education, and performance feedback to nursing team members.

• Participate in employee evaluations and corrective action processes when necessary.

• Complete resident rounds and monitor the delivery and quality of nursing care.

• Review clinical documentation and resident records for accuracy, completeness, and compliance.

• Participate in care planning, clinical meetings, and interdisciplinary meetings.

• Assist with identifying changes in resident condition and ensuring appropriate follow-up.

• Support compliance with facility policies and applicable federal and Michigan healthcare regulations.

• Assist with quality improvement initiatives, audits, investigations, and regulatory readiness.

• Serve as a resource and positive leadership presence for nurses and other members of the care team.

• Assist the Director of Nursing with additional clinical and administrative responsibilities as needed.

What We're Looking For

The ideal candidate will have:

• Current Michigan nursing license in good standing.

• Previous nursing experience, preferably in skilled nursing, long-term care, rehabilitation, or a related healthcare setting.

• Nursing leadership or supervisory experience preferred.

• Strong knowledge of nursing standards, resident care practices, and healthcare regulations.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

• Ability to coach, mentor, and support nursing staff.

• Strong organizational, time-management, and problem-solving skills.

• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

• Experience with electronic health records and basic computer applications.

Compensation & Benefits
