HeliTeam in Orlando, FL seeks an Assistant Director of Maintenance to lead a multi-base maintenance organization for UH-1H, Bell 206 and Air Tractor aircraft. You’ll develop people, set standards, and partner with the Director of Maintenance to drive growth and safety.
You will manage daily operations, plan scheduling, and ensure regulatory compliance while mentoring technicians and preparing for peak-season deployments.
The HeliTeam is a growing aviation operator supporting demanding missions across the country with a fleet of UH-1H, Bell 206 series, and Air Tractor aircraft. We are looking for an Assistant Director of Maintenance who will help build and lead a maintenance organization that operates at a high level every day.
This is a leadership role, not a hangar seat. As ADOM, you will run day-to-day maintenance operations across multiple bases and airframes, develop the people who keep our aircraft flying, and help shape the systems and standards that support our next stage of growth. You will work directly with the Director of Maintenance as a strategic partner and serve as the department's lead when the DOM is unavailable.
We're looking for a proven maintenance leader who has already run maintenance teams in a similar operation and wants room to build. If that's you, we want to talk to you.
Recruit, hire, train, and mentor maintenance technicians across all bases, and build a team that can scale with the company.
Set clear expectations, run performance reviews, and develop future leads and inspectors from within.
Build a culture of accountability, professionalism, and safety in every hangar and field location.
Oversee daily maintenance activities across multiple bases and airframe types, including planning, scheduling, and prioritizing work to maximize aircraft availability.
Coordinate with flight operations, pilots, and dispatch to align maintenance with mission demands and minimize downtime.
Manage maintenance staffing and coverage for field deployments, especially during the May–August peak season.
Act on behalf of the Director of Maintenance when needed.
Ensure all maintenance meets FAA regulations (Parts 43, 91, 133, 135, and 137 as applicable), manufacturer data, and company procedures.
Oversee maintenance tracking, records, ADs, life-limited parts, and inspection programs, keeping records accurate and audit-ready.
Support internal audits, FAA surveillance, and quality assurance programs.
Identify gaps in processes, tooling, parts support, and training, and lead the fixes.
Work with vendors and parts suppliers to control costs and reduce aircraft-on-ground time.
Contribute to budgeting, planning, and long-term decisions about the maintenance department.
Troubleshoot complex airframe, powerplant, rotor, hydraulic, and electrical problems, and step in on the floor or in the field when the mission requires it.
Serve as a technical resource for the team on OEM data, manuals, drawings, and schematics.
FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) certificate
Extensive hands-on experience with the UH-1H and/or Bell 206 series
Proven leadership experience as a Director of Maintenance, ADOM, Chief Inspector, or maintenance lead in a similar operation
Strong working knowledge of FAA maintenance regulations, recordkeeping, and Part 91, 133, 135, and 137 operations
Proficiency with maintenance tracking software and technical publications
Ability to travel extensively and deploy to remote locations during peak season
Inspection Authorization (IA)
Experience with Air Tractor aircraft
Experience managing maintenance across multiple bases or in field and deployed environments
Associate's degree or higher in Aviation Maintenance Technology or a related field
Ability to stand, bend, kneel, and climb for extended periods, and to lift up to 50 lbs
Comfortable working in tight spaces, at height, and in varied weather and field conditions
Strong visual, auditory, and manual dexterity for detailed inspection and repair work
Health, dental, and vision insurance, 80% company-paid for you and your family
401(k) with a 4% company match
Two weeks of paid time off
At HeliTeam, we invest in people as much as aircraft. You'll lead a maintenance operation behind meaningful, high-demand missions, have a real voice in how the department grows, and work alongside a leadership team that values technical excellence, integrity, and safety. You'll have the authority to build the department the right way, with a direct hand in the people, standards, and systems that carry HeliTeam into its next stage of growth.

Status: Full-Time
