Job summary

SUNY Ulster, a two-year branch of the State University of New York located in the Catskill Mountains, is seeking an Assistant Director of Library Services. The role reports to the Director and helps develop a library with extensive resources, up-to-date technology, and strong research support for college initiatives.

The position includes supervising daily library operations, policy development, staff training, and collaboration with faculty on open educational resources and instruction.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Library Science from an ALA-accredited program.
• At least two years’ professional experience in an academic library setting demonstrating progressive responsibility.
• Demonstrated skills in automated systems, online services, effective communication and supervision required.

Responsibilities

• Supervise day to day operations within the Library when the Director is not present.
• Establish policies and procedures for daily operation in consultation with the Director.
• Enforce library policies and procedures.
• Work with academic departments on collection development and instruction sessions.
• Provide support and backup for Distance Learning and institutional technology.
