Job summary
Elon University seeks an Assistant Director of Internships in the Love School of Business to enhance internship opportunities for students. You will coordinate courses, engage employers, and collaborate with campus partners to align internship experiences with academic goals.
The role reports to the Associate Dean for Faculty Development and Student Success and operates within the Porter Family Professional Development Center, supporting a broad student body and business-focused initiatives.
Qualifications

Responsibilities
- Meet 1:1 and in groups with students to guide internship search and secure opportunities.
- Support programs and events for networking and professional development.
- Conduct class presentations and workshops on internships and professional readiness.
- Develop communications to students and faculty on internship trends and requirements.
- Partner with the Porter Center for a multi-year career readiness pathway.
- Coordinate BUS 3985/ACC 4985 internship courses across fall, spring and summer.

The Assistant Director of Internships, Love School of Business (LSB) reports to the Associate Dean for Faculty Development and Student Success in the LSB and supports student efforts in securing internships, preparing for internships, monitoring the internships, and assessing the performance of students completing their internships for academic credit. Additionally, the Assistant Director will coordinate aspects of the Porter Center’s involvement in BUS 1110 (Gateway to Business) course. The Assistant Director will interact with students, internship supervisors, employers, the external community, as well as relevant Elon staff and faculty. This position works within the Porter Family Professional Development Center with four other full-time staff members and a team of student ambassadors to support professional development programs for students in alignment with the Love School of Business Strategic Plan.
- 28 annual days off, including holidays and vacation.

- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and presentation skills
- High level of organizational ability, including the ability to organize and coordinate a diverse workload with attention to detail and ability to set and meet deadlines
- Ability to initiate and develop relationships with students, faculty/staff, and employers, both one-on-one and in group setting
- Experience in the use of relevant career development technologies
- Proficiency with MS Office and database management experience
- Ability to identify and leverage new technology to enhance efficiencies
- Understanding of university recruiting and early career programs within the business landscape
- An autonomous work style, with the ability to work as part of a team in a fast-paced environment with a broad range of internal and external constituents
- Communicate and meet 1:1 and in groups with LSB students to support and guide their efforts to search for and secure appropriate internships to enhance their overall academic experience and learn skills essential to conduct a successful job search
- Support the Porter Family Professional Development Center programs and events, enhancing opportunities for networking, professional development, and industry collaborations
- Conduct class presentations and interactive workshops for LSB students with a focus on internship search, interviewing, internship preparation, and other professional development topics that will support students in a successful internship experience
- Develop timely communications to both students and faculty to ensure awareness of industry trends, highlight internship opportunities, and communicate internship requirements within the LSB
- Partner with the Porter Center team to support a multi-year career readiness pathway with professional development, experiential learning, and industry connections at the core of the student experience
- Coordinate and administer aspects of BUS 3985/ACC 4985, the credit-bearing internship course, in fall, spring, and summer semesters (serving approximately 400-450 students each academic year)
- Manage the internship registration process and communicate with the Registrar’s Office to enroll students
- Vet internship employers when necessary Outreach to students if internship registration does not meet the minimum requirements
- Routinely assess the registration process to ensure efficiency
- Coordinate logistics for the Porter Center involvement within BUS 1110, Gateway to Business course (approximately 15 sections and 350 LSB students each semester)
- Communicate with course instructors and students regarding the Porter Center assignments and respond to assignment inquiries (included under advising/mentoring)
- Support student engagement efforts by leveraging the Suitable platform (LSB 360) to promote and track engagement with professional development activities and events
- Additional duties as assigned
