Job summary

UC San Diego’s Teaching + Learning Commons seeks an Assistant Director, Engaged Teaching to advance faculty and student success through evidence-based, learner-centered programs. You will design, deliver, and assess interdisciplinary curricula and provide consultations to educators to improve teaching effectiveness.

Qualifications

• Design and deliver research-informed presentations to large and small groups with strong communication.
• Engage in program-level curriculum design from data collection to assessment.
• Experience in a higher education environment and working with faculty.
• Conduct careful project research, analyze data, create reports, and develop surveys.
• Knowledge of adult learning theory and applying education methodologies.
• Design and develop instructional materials and learning assessments.
• Knowledge of current training programs and trends in pedagogy.
• Develop and assess faculty development programs with leadership support.
• Strong analytical thinking, problem solving, and planning skills for training delivery.
• Ability to manage complex tasks with competing demands and maintain confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Design, deliver, and assess educational programs across disciplines to support teaching excellence.
• Provide individual and departmental consulting on teaching effectiveness and course design.
• Offer formative feedback on teaching practices and course materials.
• Research and develop online teaching resources and contribute to scholarship of teaching and learning.
• Provide leadership and support for the Commons and the university's teaching initiatives.
