Job summary

UC San Diego's Teaching + Learning Commons is seeking an Assistant Director to lead curriculum redesign, educator development, and the creation of scalable instructional resources. You will collaborate across campus to advance teaching excellence, equity, and learner-centered practices.

The role requires higher education experience, strong analytics, and excellent communication, with a hybrid on-campus schedule in La Jolla (minimum three days per week) and some evenings/weekends as needed.

Qualifications

• Design and deliver research-informed presentations to large and small groups; communicate effectively one-to-one.
• Manage all stages of curriculum design from data collection to mapping, implementation and assessment.
• Professional experience in a higher education environment and experience working with faculty members.
• Experience conducting careful project research, analyzing data, creating reports, and developing surveys.
• Knowledge of adult learning theory and applying it to programs and services for educators.
• Experience in designing instructional materials, educational experiences, and learning assessments.
• Thorough knowledge of current training programs, trends, learning theory, and pedagogy.
• Ability to develop and assess faculty development programs and provide professional, service-oriented support.
• Strong planning, resourcing and monitoring of training delivery; detail-oriented and able to meet deadlines.
• Ability to work independently or in teams and maintain confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Design, deliver, and assess educational programs across disciplines to support scholarly, evidence-based teaching and learner-centered design.
• Provide individual and departmental consulting on teaching effectiveness and curriculum development.
• Lead and contribute to the scholarship of teaching and learning; support university teaching initiatives.
