JOB SUMMARY: The Assistant Director of Business Intelligence (BI) will be a key position in the Office of University Planning & Analytics (UPA). The position will support timely research initiatives required to maintain institutional progression and efficiency regarding student success outcomes, course analysis and employee data, etc. This position will assist with strengthening the data infrastructure and technology utilization to comprehensively provide meaningful data that supports university data-driven decisions. The Assistant Director of BI will be responsible for triangulating data across multiple systems, i.e., the Student Information System (Banner) and interrelated platforms, such as EAB (Educational Advisory Board), Degree Works, etc. The position will develop relational databases and data lakes for the creation and maintenance of business intelligence resources and data visualizations/dashboards. Data compilation from external sources, such at the National Student Clearinghouse, IPEDS (Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System), National Center of Educational Statistics and the Bureau of Labor Statistics, etc. area also within the scope of work for the Assistant Director of BI. Supporting the development and deployment of surveys/quick polls to gain qualitative and quantitative insights will be key responsibilities of this position. The Assistant Director of BI will promote new technology offerings and provide reporting of key success measures to university leaders, academic areas and educational/industry partners. The provision of training will also be required to assist the educational community with data awareness and the utilization of technology resources. Assistant Director of BI will coordinate research activities including the review of academic program health, current job market demands, and the scoping of peer institution and national data collected through secondary sources. DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS: Strong working knowledge of Excel and/or SPSS, PowerBI/Tableau, Argos software packages or similar business intelligence tools to provide data analytics of various datasets. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated Banner knowledge, and experience with robust Excel modeling, and the use of data analytics platforms. Ability to actively support the leveraging of technology to provide rapid insights into key university measures. This will include frequent collaboration with campus partners to monitor the progress of platform utilization and reporting capabilities.
