Job description

Named for the year baseball began, 1845 Solutions builds trusted technology and tools that simplify how data is captured, connected and used across youth baseball and softball. Its flagship platform, BASE (Baseball and Softball Evaluation), is the official, and only, assessment of MLB Universe. BASE delivers objective baseball and softball player data to benchmark skills, identify strengths, and track development over time. BASE also includes a companion web solution for coaches, instructors, and training facilities (Stacks) which is a centralized platform that plugs into existing data capture systems to simplify how they manage rosters, track athletes, and surface key performance insights to support their programming.

At the core of the platform is a universal athlete ID system that ensures data control and ownership remains with the athlete or parent, enabling permission-based sharing with teams, coaches, and facilities. This portable data model allows an athlete's development journey to move with them, enabling greater continuity, safer training decisions, and smarter support at every stage.

1845 is proud to be working in partnership with Major League Baseball to establish BASE and Stacks as the foundation of a national youth technology strategy.

In the future, 1845 will be expanding its platform to include other baseball and softball facility management solutions that span facility asset management, dynamic scheduling, and a suite of business, administrative, and accounting offerings.

Position Overview

1845 is seeking a highly organized, resourceful, and energetic Assistant Director of Baseball Operations to support the Director of Operations across BASE & Stacks event planning, execution, and the systems that keep both running. This is a hands‑on role split between the field and the whiteboard: you'll help build out event strategy and partner relationships, execute on‑site, and, just as critically, turn what happens on the ground into clear processes, staffing plans, and communication that contractors and internal staff can actually follow. This position requires frequent travel, a passion for baseball, and a field‑ready mindset.

Key Responsibilities
Event Operations & Logistics
  • Work directly with the Director of Operations to build out, organize, and execute BASE events.
  • Secure facility and field spaces for scheduled events.
  • Build out event registration links and manage event administrative setup.
  • Develop staffing plans, execution blueprints, and run‑of‑show schedules for events.
Process & Team Communication
  • Partner with the Director of Operations to turn event playbooks, staffing plans, and run‑of‑show templates into written SOPs that contractors and internal staff can follow consistently.
  • Serve as one of the points of contact for contractor‑facing process questions, keeping standard operating docs current as programs evolve.
  • Own the department's operating rhythm alongside the Director, tracking cross‑team commitments, deadlines, and the shared events calendar.
  • Maintain a single source of truth for staffing rosters, event checklists, and post‑event recaps.
Networking & Partner Relations
  • Communicate directly with partners to fill events and ensure full participation.
  • Utilize existing industry connections to recruit new partners and maintain long‑term relationships.
  • Actively build trust and rapport with prospective partners across the baseball landscape.
On‑Site Operations & Travel
  • Travel regularly to event sites across regions.
  • Hands‑on setup and teardown of fields and facilities for BASE events (ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs required).
  • Lead on‑site check‑ins, manage participant flow, answer athlete and parent questions, and direct on‑site registration.
Qualifications
  • Highly organized with strong administrative skills and exceptional attention to detail.
  • Able to translate on‑ground operational knowledge into clear, written processes that contractors and staff can follow independently.
  • Top‑tier written and verbal communication skills across a distributed team of contractors, partners, and internal staff.
  • Level‑headed, patient, and calm when executing under pressure on event days.
  • Thrifty, highly flexible, and comfortable navigating dynamic situations without a set playbook.
  • Independently motivated, proactive, and capable of building trust quickly with colleagues, partners, and athletes.
  • Hands‑on, action‑oriented operator who thrives in the field, not just in planning sessions.
  • Quick to pick up and master new software, registration tools, and administrative platforms.
  • Ability to recruit, train, and effectively manage a distributed event roster and operations crew.
  • Willingness and capability to travel frequently as required by event schedules.
  • Driven by continuous improvement, willing to "fail forward" and always looking to win on the margins.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Playing and/or working experience in competitive baseball.
  • An active baseball network, or strong natural networking ability.
