Job summary

Northeastern University is seeking an Assistant Director to manage and optimize hybrid infrastructure across Cloud and On-Premises environments. The role combines strategy with hands-on leadership of a team responsible for design, deployment, and security of our cloud and data center assets.

The ideal candidate will lead initiatives spanning governance, cost optimization, and incident response, with deep expertise in Azure and AWS.

Qualifications

• Experience in multi-cloud environments (Azure & AWS).
• Familiarity with relational databases, NoSQL data stores, data lakes, and large-scale analytics.
• Experience with Zero Trust security models and cloud governance frameworks.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a team of engineers and administrators.
• Implement and manage real-time health monitoring tools.
• Triaging, identifying and remediating incidents to minimize impact.
• Assess outages and drive rapid resolution.
• Provide timely incident communications and status updates.
• Oversee incident management and escalation processes.
• Develop and manage the network infrastructure budget.
• Ensure compliance with standards and regulations.
• Design scalable, secure Azure cloud architectures aligned to strategy.
• Develop reference architectures and governance for cloud adoption.
• Define hybrid cloud architectures integrating on‑prem with Azure services.
