Job summary

The Ohio State University Medical Center is seeking an Assistant Director for the Histocompatibility Laboratory. The role oversees clinical and research activities, QA/QC/QM programs, and budget management, with on-call duties and collaboration with transplant teams.

Preference given to candidates with solid organ and stem cell transplant experience and a strong background in developing testing protocols (HLA typing, crossmatching, antibody testing).

Qualifications

• MD/PhD or PhD in a relevant field; Ohio medical license or eligibility.
• Board certified or eligible in pathology; Laboratory Director credentials.
• Experience in histocompatibility, solid organ and hematopoietic stem cell transplantation.

Responsibilities

• Develops and maintains SOPs; ensures compliance with regulatory and accrediting agencies (ASHI, CLIA, CMS, UNOS).
• Leads quality assurance and QA/QC programs; analyzes data on testing accuracy.
• Oversees testing protocols: HLA typing (SSP, SSOP, qPCR, NGS) and crossmatching.
• Manages budget, inventory, and expenditures; ensures billing compliance.
• Supervises staff, training, competency evaluation, and performance reviews.
• Represents OSU Medical Center in transplant networks and professional organizations.
