Job summary

The Ohio State University Medical Center seeks an Assistant Director of the Histocompatibility Laboratory to lead clinical and research operations, QA/QC programs, and budget management for 24/7 services across OSU facilities.

The role emphasizes leadership of technologist staff, development of technical protocols for HLA typing and crossmatching, on-call readiness, and collaboration with transplant physicians to advance organ and stem cell programs.

Qualifications

• MD/PhD or equivalent in a clinical lab science with Ohio medical license or eligible.
• Board certification/eligibility by the American Board of Pathology for MDs; ACHI fellowship for PhDs where applicable.
• Significant QA/QC experience in histocompatibility and transplantation.

Responsibilities

• Ensure regulatory and accrediting compliance (ASHI, CLIA, CMS, UNOS).
• Develop and maintain SOPs and validation studies.
• Oversee QA/QC programs and data analysis for test accuracy.
• Direct technologist staff; manage budgeting and inventory controls.
• Represent OSU Medical Center in regional/national transplant activities.
