MedStar Georgetown University Hospital is seeking an Assistant Director for the Histocompatibility Laboratory. You will lead pre- and post-transplant testing, HLA typing, and crossmatching, while guiding quality assurance, audits, and staff education.

This role supports multiple transplant programs and involves on-call clinical consultation and teaching. The position requires leadership in regulatory compliance, SOP oversight, and participation in inspections (CAP, ASHI, OSHA, CLIA).

Competenze

• Doctoral degree required in immunology, genetics, or related biological science.
• 1–2 years of postdoctoral training or equivalent in histocompatibility or immunogenetics.
• Supervisory experience with high-complexity testing in an accredited laboratory.
• ACHI certification as Fellow (F(ACHI)) or Associate (A(ACHI)) within one year.

• Establish department goals, adhere to policies, ensure compliance with regulations.
• Maintain Histocompatibility Laboratory Quality Plan and pursue improvements.
• Ensure SOPs and licensure requirements are met across sections.
• Develop and review training and competency assessments for staff.
• Oversee quality audits and internal inspections readiness.
• Participate in multidisciplinary clinical meetings and program reviews.
• Lead clinical testing protocols (HLA molecular testing, crossmatching, antibody testing).
• Provide immunologic assessments and communicate results to clinicians.
