Job summary

University of California, Irvine is seeking an Academic Coordinator (25% appointment) to support the Program in Global Languages & Cultures. The role reports to the Director and will help drive curricular innovation, mentoring lecturers and graduate instructors, and developing coursework.

The position emphasizes research, professional engagement, and program initiatives, with renewal contingent on budget and performance. Irvine campus, 25% appointment.

Qualifications

• PhD in a field relevant to the curricular and programmatic offerings of the Program in Global Languages & Cultures.

Responsibilities

• Conduct research that directly or indirectly informs curricular innovation and publish such research in peer-reviewed venues
• Participate in professional organizations and present at relevant applied linguistics, communication studies, and/or cultural studies conferences
• Provide training and/or mentorship to other lecturers and/or graduate student instructors
• Create and evaluate a rigorous curriculum for various courses as needed
• Contribute to the creation of, administrating, and grading of the AE Placement Exam
• Contribute to the program's varied initiatives and spearheading new initiatives based on programmatic capacity and Assistant Director's expertise and aptitude
