Essex County College in Newark, New Jersey, seeks an Assistant Director - Extension Centers and ESL Programs to oversee ESL offerings at on-campus and extension centers and to supervise instructors and staff. Under the Director of Enrollment Services, the role designs curricula, conducts program assessments, and ensures grant funding compliance while reporting on budgets and metrics.

Salary ranges $55,000–$70,000 with a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Business or Social Work.
• Experience administering job training models with curriculum development.
• Knowledge of ESL grant funding and reporting.
• Ability to work in a multi-cultural environment.
• Strong oral and written communication skills, bilingual preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist with non-credit and credit registration of ESL students and other students on campus or at extension centers.
• Design programs and develop curricula in accordance with ESL grant funded and non-credit or credit offerings.
• Conduct program assessments and make recommendations for expansion.
• Work with public funding agencies to ensure compliance with funding contracts and reports.
• Supervise intake, registration, testing, orientation, events, and informational sessions.
• Identify and supervise instructional staff for main and extension campuses.
• Review grant budgets and revenue accounts per college procedures.
• Interact with agencies, community leaders, and county residents.
• Prepare correspondence and statistics, and financial reports with findings and recommendations.
• Supervise requisitions, pay forms, class lists, and attendance rosters.
• Maintain confidentiality of program records.
• Prepare routine and special reports as required.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
